Business Accelerator

Empowering the future of agriculture

The Cover Crop Business Accelerator is a prime example of how Agripreneur Academy helps farmers achieve business success.

This initiative was created to support the growth of cover crop adoption in Iowa by addressing farmers’ infrastructure challenges. In partnership with the Walton Family Foundation, financial and technical support was provided to farmers operating cover crop-related businesses.

These businesses focused on two key areas:

Growing seed for cover crop use
Custom seeding services to expand adoption in their communities

The program equipped participants with the tools and knowledge to grow their businesses while contributing to the sustainability and expansion of cover crops across Iowa. This collaboration highlights how targeted support can drive success for individual farmers and the entire agricultural industry.

Into Big Results

Jennifer Simpson might look like a “city girl” on paper these days, but she’s rooted in her rural upbringing on a farm in eastern Iowa. Her career keeps her firmly connected to agriculture—a connection she values deeply.

For most of her career, Jennifer has specialized in ag media strategy and marketing, working with commodity groups, state government, associations, and key consumer ag businesses across the Midwest.

One of her proudest achievements is leading Iowa’s Cover Crop Business Accelerator. She’s helped emerging Agripreneurs with business diagnostics, marketing plans, and sales strategies, guiding them through goal-setting and connecting them with leaders in the growing cover crop industry.

Jennifer is passionate about the future of agriculture. She facilitates focus groups and insight interviews to ensure farmers’ voices are heard, collecting firsthand feedback to identify resource gaps and improve programs.

Her mission is simple: to empower the next generation of Agripreneurs with the tools and support they need to succeed.
